Born in Brooklyn, New York, Groh performed from 1967 through to 2008 CE in a variety of productions as a character actor, including appearances in Law & Order, Walker, Texas Ranger, Murder, She Wrote, Fantasy Island, and The Love Boat. Appearances in genre shows include M.A.N.T.I.S, The X-Files, and Dark Shadows.

He had recurring roles in multiple television series, notably Joe Gerard in The Mary Tyler Moore Show spin-off, Rhoda, from 1974-1977 CE. Later, he would have recurring roles in V.I.P. and Sci-Fi Channel's short-lived Roger Corman series Black Scorpion.
